why turkey?

why is it that turkey pot pies seem to get hotter faster and bubble over more than their chicken-filled counterparts?

time off

i needed a break. my whole body hurt. i couldn't stand another day of working out without letting my body heal first. so i took all of last week off. i still did some walking at work, but no going to the gym after work. i also ate a bunch of junk food that i haven't eaten in quite some time, which i know was stupid, since i wasn't working out either, but i really didn't care. i just wanted to sleep and eat and be lazy for a while.

this week i'm feeling much better and i guess that means it's time for me to get back to the gym. on the up side, when i did lower body two weeks ago, my leg press was at 135 lbs and it was very easy to do, so i guess that means it's time to bump it up to 140 lbs. we'll see how that goes. i may be up to 145 lbs by next week. w00t! :)

i've got a craving

while i was downstairs earlier, getting ready to go walking with some co-workers, a couple guys came in from lunch with taco bell cups. i started drooling. now i really really want some taco bell. i made a deal with myself that i will wait until payday, which is friday. but i really really want some NOW... i've been doing so good and eating so healthy and getting lots of exercise... it wouldn't hurt me to have it twice in one week, would it? i know i'd probably hate myself later, and make myself work out twice as hard, but man those zesty nachos sound so good... darn you zesty nachos and your addictively good cheese sauce! darn you! *shakes fist in the air*

little white lies

bryan said this weekend he can see a difference since i've started working out. he thinks i've leaned up, if only ever so slightly. i don't believe it, honestly. i think he was just saying it to be nice.

i appreciate it anyway.

bad news/good news

turns out that the scale at the gym is pretty accurate. now, they may have had it readjusted since i went two days before but when i went last night, i found that there is an electronic scale tucked away in the back room where only the employees are supposed to go, and the regular scale read the same as the electronic scale.

the bad news is that yes, i really was at 137 lbs when i went the other day.

the good news is that yes, i really was down to 134 lbs when i went last night.

i'd still like an electronic scale to keep at home so i can weigh myself first thing in the morning, but at least i know that there is a scale around that i can trust, even if it's reading me fully dressed at my heaviest part of the day.

walking machine

there is a woman here at my work who walks about 10 miles per day. she does something silly like 6 miles before work even starts.

she's in her 60's, pushing 70.

i've asked her to start inviting me when she goes on her afternoon walks. i could certainly use the exercise.

liar liar

i think we need to get a real scale. an electronic one. one with those little electrode things that you stand on that can measure your body fat.

our home scale reads anywhere between 2 lbs low and 6 lbs high, depending on how you step on it, and the scale at the gym is about 2 lbs high.

at least, that's what i tell myself.
