putting it on to take it back off

i got on the scale today and the scale read 136. i know it to generally read a couple pounds low, so it's probably more like 138-ish. when i started working out it was just over 130. if it weren't for the fact that i have measurably lost body mass (down nearly an inch), i'd really be freaking out right about now.

definitely not the clothing

nope, i'm just fat. that's all there is to it. but i'm working on it.

last night i did 10 minutes on the treadmill, then once through the full body circuit with ab sets between each push/pull set, then 5 more minutes on the treadmill. but the once through the full body circuit only took me 20 minutes, and i wasn't completely exhausted this time, so i guess next time i do the full body i'll shoot for a second rotation. i'm not doing biceps or triceps because those exercises hurt my elbows pretty badly. but i figure i'm ok there because most of the upper body exercises i'm doing work those muscles anyway. i don't want to be huge, just toned.

i also bumped leg press up by 10 lbs, which is cool. i think i'd like to get that up to 200 again some day. i'm up to 140 now, so 200 is doable eventually. i just don't want my thighs to get bigger. that's going to be the trick. get stronger without getting bigger.

i'm starting to see some results, i think. not huge, but something. guess i better keep at it... i should have bryan take some pictures to compare to later.

maybe it's the extra layers of clothing

i am feeling quite bloated today. the slacks that normally feel like pajama pants on me are feeling very restrictive and uncomfortable. it may in fact be due to the fact that i am wearing workout pants underneath them (in leu of long johns, since i don't own any) because it's so freaking cold outside. it may also be due to all of the junk food i ate this weekend (pizza on friday, kfc on both saturday AND sunday) and my lack of working out (have not been to the gym since thursday). either way, i'm feeling rather uncomfortably snug in my skin today, and will certainly be going to the gym after work to hopefully remedy the situation.

i have two goals for this whole thing: 1) i'd like to some day fit back into all of my pairs of pants. i can't afford to buy new ones. and 2) i would like to get rid of the roll that forms between the top of my uncomfortably snug pants and the bottom of my bra. this is especially uncomfortable in the summer when i start sweating. ewwwww...

found my limit

after a light 15 minute warmup on the treadmill i got to work doing upper body weights. i did shoulder press, lat pulls and crunches, 12 of each, twice through. then moved on to seated row, chest press and leg lifts. i got through a set and a half and my heart was beating so hard i felt like i was going to throw up. i've had that feeling before and i knew that it was time to let my heart rate come back down before pressing on. i walked around a little but my heartrate wouldn't come back down. back when i was actually in shape i had a hard time getting my heart rate to go up and once i stopped working out it came right back down. but last night it wasn't doing that. so i walked some more, stretched out, and called it a night. guess i will have to work up the stamina again.

tonight is more cardio. tomorrow will be lower body.

day 2

ok, well i made it through yesterday. i did cardio for 45 minutes, until i thought my heart was going to splode right out of my chest. then i went back to the apartment, and had a salad with parmesan caesar vinagrette dressing (did you know that it has HALF the calories and fat of ranch dressing and like 50 times the flavor?).

i brought my workout clothes again today. i'll be doing weights tonight. i'm thinking maybe upper body today.

this makes me think i ought to start back up my workout blog that died when MT went belly up.

don't congratulate me yet

last week i went to put on a pair of slacks that i haven't worn in quite some time and couldn't get them on. not even like i could put them on but they were tight... no, i couldn't even put them on.

after having nightmares about bryan and our friends telling me i was fat (they didn't in real life, but they did in my nightmares) and feeling like my clothes didn't fit right anymore and not liking the way i look in the mirror, that did it. that was the last straw.

friday i took my workout clothes with me to work so i could go straight to the gym on my way home, rather than stopping at the apartment to change. i know that if i go home first, i'm likely to just stay there and not go back out. so i went straight to the gym, did a light workout, went home and had a salad.

i've been eating cereal (raisin bran crunch. yum!) with skim milk for breakfast, lean cuisines for lunch, slimfast shakes for afternoon snack, and a light dinner for a while now, but it's just not cutting it. today i brought my workout clothes again and will be going straight to the gym again. being that it's tuesday, i will just do some cardio today.

it's just the "getting into the routine" part that's hard. wish me luck.
