migrating

a couple weeks ago we went to connecticut for a tournament. a couple days later bryan and i both developed a cold, just days before a second tournament. the night before the second tournament i lost my voice. it was all i could do to bark out commands at the tournament the next day.

a lull

things have slowed down a little from the 3 tournaments and a conference in may. my next big thing isn't until the end of june when we're supposed to fly to seattle for katy's wedding.

so what do i do in the mean time? why, sew of course!

Simplicity 5795

this vintage pattern from 1973 was my mom's. it was also the first or second pattern i ever made, as a project with my mom when i was in elementary school. i remember wearing the skirt to a job interview in high school.

recently i went home to visit and she had found it while cleaning her craft room, along with the little jacket (which still kinda fits, actually) and thought i might like it.

it's a jr pattern from the 70's and so it will need some modifying to make it fit me (it's about 2" too small all the way around) but i think i might just give it a shot.

checkup

may 12th i took axel in to get neutered. poor baby had to wear the cone of shame for a week and a half.

meanwhile, i went to portland for a conference for most of last week. got back last night. this morning i took him in to get his stitches checked.

doc says he's good to go. no more cone of shame and he's cleared for rough housing again. yay puppy play dates!

the fastest way to make me not attend an event is to use the term "sunday funday" as a descriptor. screw sunday funday.
