stopping and starting
no, i don't have any pictures yet, but i finished my suit and wore it to work yesterday. it got rave reviews. i will try to get pics soon with more details, but trust me. i rock.
in the mean time, i went this weekend to joann's and picked up some more fabric for projects i'd ike to start next.
first up is this doozie, which has plagued me for several years:

this was the second pattern i tried when i got my sewing machine, back in 2006. because it's translated from german and the sizing is not entirely clear, the shorts never came out right and i gave up. i had to put in 2" inserts on each side just to pull them on, only to find they would have been several inches too short (we're talking 1" inseam) and bunching in all sorts of weird ways.
last night i had an epiphany: make a skirt! i took out the center leg seams and tacked them together to become a little skirt. it's going to be a VERY little skirt and require that i wear something underneath them (leggings or shorts or something) so i don't flash the whole world parts of me that only my husband and my dr. should see, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for this project.
after that, i've got some light blue denim for one of these:

i'll be doing view A first, but view B is cute and i may try that too some day.
then will be one of these in black corduroy:

i'll be going for the style in the big picture, which is actually the same in the bottom right. it's a basic boot-cut style with a slightly low rise waist. my blue jeans came out really nice but i'm not allowed to wear blue jeans to work, so i figure black corduroy will be good for some casual friday pants.
