since i apparently forgot to post it before
i've tried t-shirts and tank tops before with marginal success. nothing i could wear out in public, but enough that i got the basic gist of things. this is my first time making one to completion.
here's the pattern:

first try:

this i refer to as vaguely shirt-esque. it has the form of a shirt in that it covers the upper portion of my body but the dimensions are all wrong. according to the pattern measurements i should have made a medium. this is a small. i need to go down at least one size.
it's more than an inch too large all the way around, the shoulder seams came out all pointy like it was hanging on a wire hanger for too long, the collar doesn't lie flat, the sleeve holes are so large i have wings when i lift my arms, and it just barely hits my belt and i haven't even hemmed it yet.
i will probably try to salvage it at some point.
second try:

not 100% success, but certainly closer to it than the first try. i made it in a size smaller, did the collar differently, extended the bottom by two inches, and fixed the issue with the pointy shoulders. it helps that this is a softer, more drapey fabric. the sleeves are an inch or two too short, but i will just wear them pushed up most of the time anyway.
this is an extra small. if i hadn't put weight on, i probably could have gone even smaller than this. apparently i do need to learn how to do a "full bust adjustment", though, to get rid of those stretch marks on the sides.
