unfamiliar territory
i've been holding off on blouses for a long time because, quite honestly, they scare me. the reason i started with pants is that i figure the further something is from your face, the less likely people are to notice if you've made minor mistakes. sure, blaring, screaming, horrible mistakes they'll still notice, but hopefully i won't make too many of those and if i do i won't be wearing the thing around for the world to see.
but sleeves and collars are fussy. they have to be just so, and if you screw it up, people are going to see it.
i tried it last night out of my cheap muslin and i think it came out pretty well. my only concern is that it's just a smidge on the tight side. i made a size 10, and maybe i should have gone with a size 12.
here are my solutions:
1 - i'm going to make the finished version out of the semi stretchy white cotton left over from my straight jacket.
2 - i'm going to run a strip of hook & eye closures up the front, making it somewhat corset-esque, instead of overlapping and making buttons.
3 - i'm going to cut out the chocolate and starbursts for breakfast and get my butt back to the gym.
