all done
i finished the dress last night and i am so happy with the way it came out...

finishing the job
i'm going to go run my new dress through the washer and dryer to make sure it's shrunk down as far as it's going to go (i did pre-wash the fabric, but i know the fabric can stretch out a little from working with it) before i hem it and take it in on the sides.
i was going to finish the belt, but it occurs to me that i haven't bought another belt buckle. i need that. maybe while b is out at kball practice tonight i'll run out to hancock's to get a belt buckle, and see if they have the skinny trim i wanted. if they don't have the trim, it's ok since it requires taking apart the side seams a bit and removing both the pockets and the belt loops, but for a more finished looking product, it just may be worth it.

no more freezing, i hope
well, my car decided to freeze again last night, keeping me from being able to drive to work this morning. i made it about 5 blocks, almost to the freeway, when it overheated. the heater was still blowing ice cold, so we think there was ice in the system somewhere.

good progress
i nearly finished that dress yesterday. all that's left is to tailor the sides, hem it, and make the belt. i may actually finish it by tonight. i'm pretty proud of how quickly it came together, really. this plaid is WAY easier to work with than the other plaid i used.

fancy shoes
for my birthday i got a $25 gift card from my co-workers. with it i bought a $30 pair of shoes that i had been eying from target. they arrived today and i'm so excited.

another skinny dress
well, it's time for me to be productive. i've decided that today is the day i start on my next "skinny dress". the purple plaid one was so successful, that i have decided to make another in the brown plaid.
hopefully since this material is stiffer than the cheap flannel i used the first time it will be easier to work. with. cross your fingers for me...

recess
today we start winter kickball. it seems a really silly thing to do but some people just can't get enough. this season we've joined an "all-star" team that was put together specifically to go to nationals. hopefully that means we'll do really well. i'll be playing as little as possible, and i'm ok with that. we have some talented women on the team this season that know what they're doing and i'd rather stay out of their way.
