for the record
seems to be generally a northwest thing, since that's where the trees used to make it grow natively, which is probably why you've never heard of it.
it's a form of mulch, only instead of being a mishmash of all sorts of parts of trees and other things, it's made from just the bark, and shredded like pulled-pork bbq, which makes it different from bark chips, which are just chips of bark (duh). bark chips are, thusly, different from wood chips, in that they are just made of the bark of the tree, not the meat of the tree (again, duh).

i hate hate hate hate the sound of people eating/drinking. hate it. this woman in our office who sits right outside my office door brought in a whole bunch of butterscotch disks which she keeps in a candy jar on her desk and every afternoon she starts eating them, with her mouth open. or maybe it's not open, and she's just an excessively loud eater. either way, i want to go slap her.

counterintuitive
why, when i've gotten a stronger moisturizer and am drinking so much water that i have to pee every 5 minutes, does my dry skin continue to get worse and this rash continue to spread across my face? argh! i seem to also be developing rosacea or something because my cheeks seem permanently flush for the last week or so. :(

i did it!
for the first time since at least mid 2006 (that's the earliest date on my donor card) my iron was high enough, and i gave blood today.

how come nobody told me today was st. patrick's day? i thought it was on saturday, so today i wore pink and black, with not a hint of green.

for the record
february 9th was bryan's last cigarette. since then he has been diligent about taking his chantix and hasn't had a single relapse. there have been days where he was frustrated and angry and probably really wanted a cigarette, but he fought it and made it through.
i am extremely proud of him. i know it wasn't easy at first, and we've tried this before with less success, but he's doing great this time.
