something died.

we don't know yet if it's in the wall or behind our pile of boxes in the kitchen, but something definitely died.

kriss kross'll make ya...

the wood grain pattern on my desk top has been causing my optical mouse to freak out for some time. my cursor erratically jumps all over the screen at the slightest provocation. at least on my old desk the cursor would just drift across the screen without me touching it, as though it were possessed.

i hugely hate mousepads. i have not used one in years. the feeling of them under my hand, the way i have to keep moving my mouse back onto them, the way they get all disgusting and dirty... but unfortunately i needed something to protect my brain from the effects of a jumping cursor.

so i taped a piece of paper to my desk.

groove technician

last night i beat the rock band solo drum tour on medium, and i'm about halfway through the hard tour.

don't get me wrong, hard is still extremely hard, and i am so terrified of the day when i have to play "detroit rock city", "run to the hills", "tom sawyer", "train kept a rollin'", "highway star" and "enter sandman" all in one set, but until then, i'm holding on.

overlap

why does it always seem that the weekends where we make plans to do things are the weekends where there are in-game holidays? this weekend bryan and i were hoping to get some more done on the cabinets in the kitchen (which i haven't worked on in weeks). it's also the canthan new year celebration in guild wars. yargh. :(

the dangers of pants

this morning i got up from my desk, took two steps, caught my right heel on the cuffed hem of my left pant leg, tripped and fell right on my butt in the middle of the hallway. cause i'm graceful like that.

still waiting

my new desk still has not arrived. in fact, it hasn't even been ordered!

the guy from office depot came weeks ago and we re-measured and picked out new stuff that we are certain will fit. we basically got the exact same stuff that was in here when the last person was in this office.

unfortunately, because the old stuff that was ordered that didn't fit was returned, they have to do a whole ton of paperwork to put the money back into the account and re-approved for a new purchase through the purchasing department, and all the returns and new purchases have to be cleared through office depot's purchasing department... so my new stuff hasn't even been ordered yet. it's been picked out, but never ordered.

meanwhile, the faux wood grain pattern on my temporary desk is freaking out my optical mouse, causing my cursor to jump erratically all over the screen. i may have to get a mouse pad. :(

new toys

back when we were rearranging furniture, we discovered that my co-worker, blair's chair was really gross. things were growing in the cracks between the seat and the arms. after some math, we realized that it had been in the department for at least 20 years (it was here when the department head started here 20 years ago) and has been through at least 6 different people in 4 different job positions just in the time that we've had it.

shortly thereafter blair got a new chair.

over before its started

this weekend i started working on a quilt for bryan's mom, because i'm nice like that. i figured i'd just get an early jump on christmas and have it done and ready to go. or maybe as a christmas present or something. whatever.

anyway, i had this nice quilting pack that i had picked out which had 5 different pieces of fabric in shades of dark green and dark purple, all with a bird theme. birds, bird nests, bird feathers, eggs... so i got all the fabric washed and ironed and showed it to bryan to get his approval, see if he thought his mom would like it ok, and he said HE liked it, and thought we should keep it for ourselves. but he wanted it to be a big, fluffy quilt. not a thin one.

as of friday, bryan is no longer sick. yay! he's back to work, he's sleeping through the night, AND he's decided to quit smoking! =O

both rocking AND rolling

yesterday i started playing through the solo drum campaign for rock band on bryan's account since between the two of us he's the only one with an actual xbox live account. i can earn achievements but since i'm not connected to xbox live, nobody can see them but us.

so anyway, i got through about 15 songs each at easy and medium level and 10 at hard level. on my own account i've done the whole easy campaign, and am about 38/62 for medium, with only 7 songs done on hard.

basically i played for like 8 hours straight yesterday.
