where to start?
so, i've done a trial run at making pants, now it's time to try it "for reals". last night i went to joann's to see what they've got in the line of fabrics that would work and on the clearance rack i found...
purple denim!
i needed 2 5/8 yards and they had 2 7/8 yards so i took it all. that way if it shrinks when i pre-wash it, i should still be ok. and since it was on clearance it was only $3/yard which means that i will be making pants that cost me less than $9. that's awesome.
i did also find some pretty nifty brown plaid stuff that i may go get some of later, if it's still there. it was also on clearance so who knows. and i may have found some gray, but i'm not sure how crazy i am about it. it's a little less "heather" and a little more "greenish" gray. never did find any appropriate pinstripe. i found some that was the right pattern, but it was polyester. ewwww...

you love me
Purple denim is so 1992 (or at least Alaska's version of 1992).

alaska's 1992 = the rest of the world's 1982?
retro is cool, though, right?
here's the deal... i am allowed to wear jeans to work on friday as long as they are not blue. any other color is ok, but not blue. so i figure by going with purple, i can get away with wearing jeans on friday.
besides, it's really super soft denim, and i just had to have it. had to. seriously.

besides, it's not like i was going with sparkly purple corduroy...

Yes, Alaska is behind the rest of the world about 10 years. But that sparkly corduroy would make and awesome jumpshut!

i'm going to assume you mean jumpSUIT, not jumpSHUT, but maybe you've got some weird terms up there in the north that i haven't heard of.
in the case of the former, get your measurements. i'll make you a sparkly purple jumpsuit for when you come visit this summer.
in the case of the latter... i'm not sure what to say.
