hot and cold
it has remained quite warm here all the way through to this week. as of wednesday we were still suffering through 90+ degree days. it was just barely dipping into the mid 70's at night, and our a/c units were working non-stop. unfortunately, with as many window and door leaks as we've got, most of the cold air was going right out, so even with the units on "energy saving" mode, they'd turn off and a couple minutes later they'd turn right back on again.
but as of yesterday, the temps seem to be starting to break. last night was the first night in our new house that i needed something heavier than a light blanket through the night. i was actually shivering by the time bryan came to bed. it was such a nice change of pace...
then this morning i got up and took a nice hot shower.
when we changed the tub, we got a new shower faucet kit, which apparently has this "ScaldGuard" thing in it, to prevent the handle from being turned to the point where it will get too hot. unfortunately it was preventing the handle from being turned to the point where it will get hot at all.
the first couple days we lived in the house i was taking completely cold showers. it was not fun at all. then we turned the cold water pipe down and the water heater all the way up, and the showers were close to hot, if i turned it all the way up, but by a couple minutes in the water had gone to luke-warm, and by the end of my shower the water was nearly cold again.
last night bryan brought home his allen key set so i could take the handle off and adjust the "ScaldGuard" thingy and this morning it was HOT. it cooled down some by the end, but it was still very warm. such a huge improvement!
now, if only we had a bathroom door so i didn't freeze when i got OUT of the shower...
