oh, well that sucks...
i planned on running out to the bank during my lunch break. i normally leave at about 11:30 am, so i can beat the traffic and get back to campus before the bridge opens at noon. but i had two unexpected meetings this morning that ran until 12:30 pm.
as i was getting ready to walk out the door, the girl that works our front desk decided she wanted to order subs from the shop next to the bank. after waiting for her to figure out what she wanted, change her mind a couple times, customize her order, and finally find out how much we owed, she decided to write a check. as she was writing the check it started raining.

what's the deal?
does anybody know why internet explorer will periodically, at random, decide that you don't really like your font size settings the way they are, and your internet browsing experience would certainly be much improved if the font size was set to smallest or largest?
not that it happens to me, because i stopped using ie as my primary browser a couple years ago, but i have been having customers call me to complain that my web site looked horrible and my font was unreadable and i needed to redesign the site since at least 2000, way back when i worked for PCC. and with all of them it turned out that the problem was that they were using internet explorer and the size had changed to smallest or largest and once it got set back to medium, suddenly they loved our site.

these hands
the one thing that has really suffered from this whole "moving into a fixer upper" thing is my hands. i've got blisters, callouses, carpel tunnel, cuts, chemical burns, and now even a splinter.
last night while scrubbing the floor, a little shard of wood shot through the sponge, piercing my right index finger. it bled a little, but mostly it just burned really bad because my hands, the sponge, and the floor were all covered in goo-gone.

shoes at the door!
i was up until midnight last night doing the last bit of scrubbing on the wood floor to try to get the worst of the glue off. there are still little spots all over the floor, but you can only see them if you catch a reflection off the floor. if you're looking straight down, you can't see them. i think over time we'll be able to get them all out but it's going to take a lot more time and strength than i've got in one sitting. just about time to get the living room set up.

good job, now go to bed
bryan was in a halo tournament last night to try to win a copy of halo 3 legendary edition. he already had pre-ordered and completely paid for one copy but he was hoping to win a second copy.
he came in 3rd out of 32 people. i'd say that's not too shabby. good job, honey.
then he stayed up all... night... long... playing halo 3 when he got home. he and his buddies beat the game on the hardest mode just as my alarm went off. they had just started playing with multi-player when i left for work. for all i know they could still be playing. i'm exhausted just thinking about it.

we're in
bryan and i moved into the house this weekend. we're both sore and exhausted. neither of us is sleeping well. there is still a ton of work to do. half of the house is unusable due to being crammed with boxes. but slowly we're hacking away at our "to do" list, and some day things will be ok.
in the mean time i'm having nightmares about homeless people climbing through the windows. O_o
