memo to all team captains:
a great way to instantly demoralize and segregate your team is to show significant prejudice towards one section of your team.
for example, telling your COED team "girls, you're just there to look good. guys, you are responsible for every play" is not a great way to make your women feel trusted and heavily relied upon.
then when one of the women on your team asks if she can get into the kicking rotation, blowing her off and telling her that once the guys have kicked you'll bring the girls in for a little bunting practice, is not how you tell her and your other females that you believe in their abilities.
oh, and just because you keep saying that you don't mean to be insulting doesn't mean that you AREN'T insulting. it means you're an idiot.

With a captain like that, and with no one else standing up for the girls, I would have one large shouting match and then leave. If my femaleness wasn't wanted on the team, then I wouldn't be there. Ooh, this makes me so mad.

yeah, it's pretty frustrating. we all were ready to quit after that. because it's mandatory coed, no women = no team. even his gf, who is on the team, was ready to leave after that. heck, she was ready to leave HIM after that.
he kept saying he didn't mean to be insulting. to which i responded "yes, and that's what's so infuriating. you're just ignorant!" his gf gave me a high-five for that.
then on thursday she had one of the best plays of the game. i shouted across the field at her "way to look pretty!" :)
