that was quick
tuesday night bryan's mom said she needed me to go by the house in the morning to drop off my key for the guy that would be going in to do some work on the kitchen wall. i hadn't even heard that she had officially chosen someone to do the job. i told her i wouldn't be able to because the house is the opposite direction from where i work and i'd end up being late.
when i got off work yesterday she called me as i was on my way to the house and said that she had let the guy in in the morning to do some work but she didn't know if he would still be there or not when i arrived.
they were already gone when i got there but they left behind a new wall! the kitchen wall was apparently torn down and rebuilt in a day, complete with sheetrock, which had already been taped and mudded. wow! it's not "done" i don't think, as it still needs to be sanded, then we still have to have a new piece of wood trim cut to go along the bottom of the window, and i'm not sure if they are doing the same thing on the other side of the door, but i had no idea that they'd be that far that quickly. amazing.
in the mean time i finished primering the rest of the sewing room and everything from the top of the door frames to the ground in the hallway, including the baseboards.
i think i'm going to just try to get new doors for the bathroom and bedrooms and see what i can do to make the current doorframes work. maybe i can just put the hinges in a different spot or something. we'll see. either way i still need to see if i can have someone help me move bryan's big ladder from the shop to the house because there's no way i'm going to be able to paint the ceilings otherwise. i wonder if we could fit it in gina's volvo... she's supposed to come help me paint tonight. hmmm...
oh, and i have to go get a bucket of the trim paint either tonight or tomorrow because i want to have at least the baseboards completely finished before we put the carpet in so i don't get paint on the carpet. i can put down dropcloths and tarps when i do the walls, but i would surely make a big mess trying to do the baseboards.
