made some progress, but not enough
spent friday night and all day saturday working on the house. planned to work on it sunday but it just didn't happen. slowly progress is being made but there's so much to do, it just makes me want to cry.
but at least the smell is slowly going away, which certainly gives me hope.
got the floors in the bedrooms, hallway and storage room washed. started to wash the living room floor but there was still stuff all over it and didn't have a broom to sweep it up before mopping. didn't mop the bathroom floor because i'm not sure if we're ripping out that vinyl or just laying the new stuff over the top of it. have no idea what to do about the kitchen floor. unfortunately eric says that he wants to lay the vinyl first, then the wood, then the carpet last, since that's the order in which they need to properly overlap each other. i think he could probably lay the carpet first, then the vinyl, then the wood and we'd still be fine. carpet is flexible, right?
bought a new a/c unit, but have not been able to find anybody to help remove the old one and install the new one. normally bryan's mom's bf would help, since he's an a/c repair guy by trade, but he tore his rotator cuff, so that's out. anybody got any big strong helpers stuffed into their front hall closet that they wouldn't mind loaning me for a couple hours? i promise i will return them...
removed all cupboard doors and drawers, removed all of their hardware, wanted to cry at how disgusting they all look. all of the wood under the sink needs to be replaced. it all needs to be washed and sanded and wood puttied and re-finished. initially bryan's mom had said that we weren't allowed to paint them, because they are real wood, and we'd ruin them. but when she looked at them again this weekend, she realized they are just wood veneer and said i could paint them if i want. i think i'll still see if i can sand them down and re-finish them to match the wood floors. if that doesn't work i'll look into painting them.
bryan's mom says if we buy the hardware for the cupboards she'll reimburse us. i've heard this many times before from many different people and always got shafted. but i will probably end up doing it anyway so i can make sure to get the stuff i want and not some cheap ugly crap.
oh, and i don't care what kind of fancy name you give it, it was still a cockroach.
