hurts so good

i had every intention of waking up early this morning to call eric, on the off chance that he was working, to see if i could meet up with him to go look at flooring. but that plan was based on the assumption that i would be getting to sleep at a reasonable hour, which 2 am (the time when i actually got to sleep) is not.

so while i really really intended to be up at 7 am, i finally rolled out of bed at nearly 10 am. after finally getting ahold of eric, only to find out that not only was he not working today, the showroom where he would be able to show me floor samples isn't even open today.

getting my head on straight

yesterday i got off the plane, went back to bryan's mom's house and decided i wanted to do something about not having an internet connection in our part of the house. sure, running a cable in the house would be the sensible, if not entirely easy, solution. instead, we wanted to use our own modem, as we had been before our cable was shut off at the apartment (why our modem does not work independently of our internet connection is a whole nother tirade).

here's to you

oh yeah, and to all those people that totally blew off our wedding reception then said it was my fault because i didn't send them a reminder (which i did, btw), that's a lame excuse and you know it. i had already sent you like 5 emails letting you know it was coming up, and several of you i spoke to by phone to confirm that you would be there. you all assured me that you were putting it on your calendar and would be there. several of you even contacted me, just days before, asking what you should bring.

of the 50 or so confirmed attendees, we had 10, with two of them being my dad's sister and her hubby, two being my godmother and her best friend, two being mike peterson and his wife, two being nathan snyder's mom and sister, one being the woman that bryan and i were staying with, and one being one of my bridesmaids. aside from that it was just bryan's and my immediate family. none of my mom's side showed up. none of my aunts, uncles, cousins, or grandparents even called.

oh well, more hamburgers and hotdogs for the rest of us. :P

build a better mousetrap

i want to paint before the floor goes in, but i can't paint until the construction is done, because i have no idea what all they are planning to rip apart. i can rip out the old door frames, and have to get that done before i paint, but need someone else to install the new ones. i can probably figure out how to install the new door handles, but would prefer to have that done by whoever hangs the doors. once the construction is done, the new floors can go in, then the furniture can go in, but i still haven't been able to meet up with eric to even look at floor samples.

i needed to look up "cellulose fiber fill insulation" and specifically, where to find someone to install it in our house.

strange dreams

i have replaced the weatherstrip on the front door. i was going to get a new metal threashold today, but then i looked at the one at the house and realized that it would need to be cut to install it and i don't have any way to cut metal. maybe i could take out the old one and take it to home depot with me and have them cut it, but i don't want to pull out the old threashold until we're ready to put in the new floor. so instead i bought doorknobs for the bedrooms and the bathroom.

oh yeah, hi

btw, i'm back in virginia again. portland was beautiful, it was great to see bryan, we went to the beach, we went to the zoo, bryan and eric went fishing, the weather was perfect, the sky was blue, the birds were singing and i didn't want to leave, but here i am.

and i think i'm going to paint the sewing room purple.

what am i forgetting?

there's something i have been meaning to do for the past several hours. i know it involved the computer, which is why i turned the computer on. but for the past two hours i've been sitting here trying to think of what it was that i meant to do, and i'm completely coming up blank. any ideas?
