that sucked

last night i went to the new house to start working on pulling out the floor in the bathroom so we can lay the new floor, but first i had to pull out the quarter round that was holding it down around the edges. unfortunately in the process i discovered a bunch more rotten wood, termites, and ants.

when i was a kid i had a pretty bad experience with ants basically falling out of my ceiling all over me and my bed, so i have this real phobia of small bugs. it creeped me out so i packed up and went home. but i didn't realize how bad it had creeped me out until i tried to go to sleep. i couldn't get to sleep until midnight then i spent the next several hours tossing and turning, having nightmares of bugs all over.

finally at 2:30 am i was awoken to the sound of the dog barking. he often runs outside and starts barking when the paperboy comes by, at which point we have to go get him and bring him back in, for fear that the neighbors might get mad and call animal control. but this sounded a little louder, like he was still inside. so i ran downstairs and found that he had cornered a cat in the dining room!

the cat must have run in through the dog door and couldn't find its way back out. so i spent the next 15 or so minutes trying to herd it back out the door. when i finally got it out, i shut the back door and locked the dog door, which of course made the dog irate, because he wanted to chase the cat! after a while of scratching and whining and running around like a maniac, the dog finally calmed down and went to sleep.

somehow bryan's mom slept through the whole thing, sleeping on the couch in the den, with the door open. must be nice.

so i went back upstairs and laid on our couch watching tv until i finally fell asleep an hour or so later. around 5:30 am i finally got back to bed, but then had to get up at 6:30 am to finish packing up the car parts i have to ship today and trying to figure out how to get the box into the car.

i really just want to sleep.

made some progress, but not enough

spent friday night and all day saturday working on the house. planned to work on it sunday but it just didn't happen. slowly progress is being made but there's so much to do, it just makes me want to cry.

but at least the smell is slowly going away, which certainly gives me hope.
