bryan and i watch pro-wrestling. "sports entertainment". we know it's prescripted, and it's as fake as anything else on tv, but we watch it for the personalities. the characters. the trash talking, the storylines, the exciting moments and the moments that tug at your heart strings. whether it's simply one man's struggle for greatness, or two people falling in love, there's always some interesting story going on.
but last night was one of the most tragic stories we've ever seen, and unfortunately it was real.
one of our favorite wrestlers, a man many consider to be one of the best technical wrestlers of all time, was found dead yesterday afternoon, along with his wife, and their young son.
disbelief and shock set in. denial. how could this happen? this can't be real. tell me this is all just a story... it's all made up... but running to the internet, searching site after site, the cold reality set in. chris benoit is dead.
today the reports are saying it was a murder-suicide. they say that all indications are that he killed his wife, then his son, then himself, but for so many around the world, the outcry is that this is simply not possible.
he was a good man. a family man. a professional, passionate about his work. he built his life on hard work and earned respect. he married a woman who was a wrestler. everyone loved him, both on stage and off.
it's not possible. it just can't be. something happened, someone else did this. not chris.
